1.    How was WSBC founded & history?

The Wisconsin Scholarship Bowling Club was founded in 1990 with 9 members and since it’s inception, has awarded over $280,000 in scholarships to youth bowlers. We conduct tournaments on the 1st Sunday of each month beginning in August and ending in June with our End of Year Event being held at the Wisconsin Dells. We are currently attracting youth bowlers not only from Wisconsin, but also have bowlers from all over the Midwest. The expenses of conducting tournaments are kept to a minimum to allow us the opportunity to award as much as possible in scholarships to the bowlers.

2.    Where is the scholarships kept at?

All scholarship money is managed by USBC in a program called SMART (Visit bowl.com for info about SMART). This program ensures that all scholarship funds are properly managed until the youth attends an approved post secondary school. You can also get information about SMART by calling 414-423-3343. WSBC holds no scholarships. All questions should be directed to them.

3.    How is the tournament run?

Bowlers bowl eight games of qualifying. There will then be a cut based on how many entrants there were. Match play will be bowled with eight games for the boys and the girls bowl match play games based on the number of entries. Scores are bases on a +/- system on a score of 200. Pins carry over into match play. High qualifiers earn scholarships and high game out also receive a scholarship.

4.    Is there a separate girls' division?

The answer to that is yes. There is a girls division if there are more than six girls entrants.

5.    Is there optional programs?

Yes there are optional programs. Optional programs include Junior Gold and brackets. Brackets are run in a professional way and JG qualifiers are done to let youth bowlers earn entries to the National event. Cost for brackets are $5 with no limit and Junior Gold membership will be $30 for new members and $25 for renewing (WSBC does not collect on the membership fees, we forward them to USBC). All winnings are paid in scholarships. All money collected in brackets are awarded back.

6.    Who is eligible for WSBC?

Any bowler who is USBC or Collegiate sanctioned can participate. All non-members can also be eligible when they pay an extra $2.00 participation fee. You don't have to be a Wisconsin residence to be eligible. We have bowlers from all over the midwest.

7.    When and where are the tournaments located?

Most of the events are typically held on the first Sunday of the month. Holidays and other events may affect the availability. They are held in various centers throughout Wisconsin and might be out of the state. Tournaments are placed throughout the whole state. Check in begins at 8 a.m. and paddock at 8:45. Bowling begins at 9 a.m. Check out the schedule page for dates and locations.

8.    Why do you want to pre-register?

Pre-registration is recommended due to the fact that there is a $5 walk-on fee. Entries are accepted up to two months in advance and entry forms are available online at www.wisbc.org or at the tournament site. Failing to show without approved cancellation will result in a lost of your full entry. Call us if you need to cancel. New bowlers can waive the $5 late fee.

9.    I heard that WSBC sends out a mailing every month?

You heard correctly. WSBC publishes a newsletter called "WSBC Strike Zone" which is sent out at certain times. It contains all the info and results about the tournament and upcoming tournaments. It is also posted on www.wisbc.org.  This mailing is conducted to WSBC members, if you would like to be added to this list, please contact us.

Dress shorts/skirts/slacks are acceptable for the women. Shirs must be collared and be neat and clean in appearance. We ask that your name is on the shirt.

11. What other events are held with WSBC?

From time to time, WSBC holds Saturday night events. They are fun tournaments which you win scholarships in. Typically, cost are $15 and details are posted on the website or in "WSBC Strike Zone" newsletter. These events are NOT required!!

12. What happens if I roll an honor score during a WSBC event?
